Excellent Result for Sunfast 3200 R2

The new Sunfast 3200 R2 "Son of a Gun" joint owned by Simon Huges and Peter Lloyd, finished 4th out of 65 competitors in the 2017 Carey Olsen inter-island race last week.

With light winds creating challenging conditions on the start line Son of a Gun opted to stay close to the west coast of Jersey to get a boost from the north easterly tide. With the wind building later in the race Son of a Gun tacked across the south of the Lower Heads cardinal buoy, and finished just after 4 p.m. GMT which was good enough for fourth place. The prize for fourth place was a bottle of champagne shared between the helmsman Peter Lloyd and his crew Simon Hughes, Mick Underdown, Laura Priaulx and Paul Salazaar.

Another Sunfast 3200 took 16th place.

Although only the first season for this new model of race boat from Jeanneau it has proven itself effective with a 3rd place in the Dielette race, second place in the IMPI Shield and winning the Nashcopy Triangle Series and the Round Guernsey Race.
